WHY POOL INSPECTION IS MANDATORY?

This is to inform you that a recent amendment to the building regulations 2018 came into effect in Victoria on 12 October 2021.

The regulations which came into effect on 1 December 2019, introduced the requirement for owners to register their swimming pools and spas with the council. The regulations also require pool owners to engage a building surveyor, building inspector, or swimming pool inspector to certify that the pool or spa safety barrier complies with the regulation.

A certificate of the swimming pool or spa barrier compliance (CBC) issued by a building surveyor, building inspector, or swimming pool inspector is required to be logged with the council by a specific date determined by the construction date of the swimming pool and spa

The Hidden Dangers of Cheap InspectION

-Inadequate Expertise: - Cheap pool inspectors often lack the necessary qualifications, training, and experience to thoroughly assess compliance issues

-Missed Safety Risks: - By opting for a cheaper inspection, you run the risk of them missing critical safety hazards that could lead to accidents or injuries

-Incomplete Reports: - Cheap inspectors may provide incomplete or hastily prepared inspection reports. These reports are essential for identifying compliance issues and documenting necessary repairs or upgrades

-Limited Liability Coverage: - Cheaper inspectors often carry limited or no liability insurance. In the unfortunate event that an incident occurs due to an oversight during the inspection, you may be left with significant financial burdens

-Costly Repairs: - Choosing a cheap inspector might save you a few dollars upfront, but it can result in more significant expenses down the line. Inaccurate assessments or missed compliance issues can lead to costly repairs, remediation, or even forced pool closures until issues are resolved
